Easyfix Adhesive Secondary Glazing Systems
Effective DIY Secondary Glazing on a low budget
With windows being the main source of heat loss in winter, both through the glass itself and by draughts around the frame, it can be rewarding to insulate either the whole window or just the glass in order to get lower heating bills and improved comfort.
Of the many systems or methods to choose from, the Easyfix DIY adhesive systems are about the most cost-effective of any available, due to their simplicity and reliance on trapped air to provide the insulation. So if you are on a tight budget, you are in a short-term rental property or you have a student to support in college digs, the Easyfix DIY secondary glazing systems will be of interest.
Easyglaze is a stick’n’clip system. The base section is self-adhesive, which attaches to the window surround, Next you place the 2mm thick plastic sheet into the frame made by the bases on all four sides, and clip/knock in the top sections, that hold the sheet firmly in place. All strips are mitred for a neat finish in white uPVC for good insulation. Because the strips themselves are inexpensive, and only 2mm thick plastic sheets are used this keeps the cost right down.
Easyglaze is also a useful system for adding extra insulation to existing uPVC windows, as they will blend in with white windows to provide the boost of triple glazing for noise or heat.
Filmglaze is an even simpler system. Special thermal film is stuck to the window surround with adhesive tape, and once trimmed to the exact size, a hairdryer is used to make the film taut. As with plastic sheet, the air trapped by the film insulates.
Typically used as a one-winter solution for rentals, students and other short term situations, and is extremely easy to install.

“This is our third purchase from this very comprehensive website, full of clear advice and instructions which are well-worth following carefully. Very prompt delivery of well-packed glazing. A relatively cheap and simple way to insulate older, less-efficient, double-glazed windows, especially to reduce noise levels, without the expense of replacement. The glazing is extremely easy to remove for cleaning, ventilation, etc.” (GO)
